California’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR)
Your student will be participating in California’s Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program from April 26th through May 3rd. All public schools in California participate in the STAR Program, which is designed to provide students, parents, teachers, and the community with information about student achievement. All California students in grades 2nd-11th will be testing in reading, written expression (language), spelling, and mathematics as a part of the STAR Program. Additionally, students in 5th grade will be administered a science test, and students in 8th grade will be administered a science and history-social science test. The STAR Program consists of the California Standards Tests (CST’s). Students in 2nd-8th grades take the CST’s, which will show how well students are achieving on content standards established for all California students by the State Board of Education. It is important that students do their best on these tests. You are a vital partner in the testing process and can help by:
