Discipline PolicyOur district adopted and implemented a distict-wide classroom management/discipline policy called Time to Teach in September of 2002. The objective of this program is to provide a caring and safe environment so that optimum learning can take place for all students. If a child is involved in an inappropriate behavior, he/she will be told "You need to ..." and be told what they should have been doing. If the students continues or does the behavior again, the consequence will be a time-out which we call Refocus. It is a chance for the child to have a quiet place to think about the appropriate choice he/she should have made. While in Refocus, the child will fill out the refocus form by drawing a picture of what he/she was doing and what he/she will do next time. Classroom Rules: 1. Try your best. 2. Keep your hands to yourself. 3. Clean up after yourself. 4. Use kind words. 5. Be a good friend. *In severe instances, there will be an immediate in office refocus. Each day, I will give the children who have had none or one refocus a stamp on his/her hand. The stamp is a communication tool, so you are aware on a daily basis what their behavior is like. Discuss our behavior standards at home with your child. This will help them to understand that you are aware of what is expected at school.
