August 2006

Dear Parents

On behalf of the staff here at Suburu I would like to welcome you and your children to the
2006-2007 school year. We are looking forward to an exciting and challenging year. Our
multi-purpose building was completed and utilized for various events last spring. We are
looking forward to including this awesome facility as our lunchroom this year.

The teachers have worked very diligently to get ready for this school year. The majority of the
teachers were working in their classrooms during their vacation time. This is just another
example of how committed our teachers are to their students. This school year we will be
continuing to progress with our Accelerated Reader program. This is an excellent reading
program that has benefited many students on their reading skills statewide.

This year will be our first year to have fifth grade on campus. We will have four classrooms of fifth grade, all located on the east side of our campus. We would like to welcome our fifth grade teachers from Lakeside, Ms. Wachob, Mrs. Refuerzo, Mrs. O'Bannon, and Mr. Bailey. We would also like to welcome Mrs. Aronson from Lakeside to our fourth grade team.

I feel very fortunate to have such a magnificent staff here at Suburu. We have always had excellent parent support and we anticipate this once again. Parents can volunteer to assist with the Parent Club, School Site Council, ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee), DELAC, or as a classroom volunteer. If you have any questions on how you can help, please call our office.

Sincerely,

Gary Mullen
Principal
