Kindergarten Readiness

The following list may be helpful in determining if your child is ready for kindergarten:

*Manage bathroom needs

*Can separate from parents

*Able to play with other children nicely

*Listen to stories without interrupting

*Holds a pencil correctly

*Writes name with the first letter capitalized

*Holds scissors correctly

*Can cut an object out with scissors

*Knows how to use glue

*Tells age, address and phone number

*Communicates with others

*Counts to ten

*Can point at objects and count with 1 to 1 correspondence to 10

*Recognizes numbers 1-10

*Identifies some letters

*Can tell the sound of a few letters

*Knows colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, white, brown)

*Knows shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond, oval)

*Recognizes rhymes

*Tie shoes (if not, please send them in velcro shoes)
