BiographyMy name is Mrs. White. I would like to welcome you and your child to sixth grade language arts and history. I have been teaching for 21 years and this will be my 15th year at Lakeside. During these years I have taught all grades K-8th except 4th. I have been married for 29 years, have two adult children and one beautiful calico cat. I love the beach, photography, watercolor painting and dark chocolate of course.
Teaching and learning from a distance will be a challenge, but we will all make the best of it with each passing week. It is my hope that over the course of this year that I will improve as a teacher and your child will excel as a student.
You will be receiving a lot of information via email and possibly text messages through Remind. Please check for communication from me regularly. There is a grade book in Canvas and in Aeries. We will inform you as soon as possible the best way to attain your child's grades and check on any missing assignments.
One of the most important life long skills your child will acquire this year is keyboarding. There are a number of websites that will help your child improve in this area. One such website is typingclub.com. A reasonable goal for the year would be that students would be able to type 30 words a minute.
Let's all take a deep breath and jump in to another exciting year of learning. I will do my best to help you and your child succeed this year. Thank you for your support and grace as we navigate this new way of learning!
