Like many parts of California, Kern County is facing a shortage of school teachers. A combination of an aging workforce and impending retirements, population growth in our community and a declining number of candidates enrolled in teaching preparation programs has contributed to the deficiency.
Jobs are aplenty for teachers. Our Prospective Teacher Information Sessions are designed to bring more candidates into our local university teacher credentialing programs and give second career candidates, bachelor's degree holders and college students a one-stop shop to learn about earning a teaching credential and be linked to resources to assist them on their pathway to teaching.
