Dear Parents/Guardians of incoming 7th Grade Students:

Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, continues to threaten students in California. To help stop its spread, ALL incoming 7th grade students are required by law to have proof of a whooping cough booster (Tdap) shot on file. An exemption can only be provided from a licensed Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, in order to attend classes in the fall this year. Students will not be allowed to attend classes without a shot record. If there is not a record on file when school starts, your student will be excluded from coming to school until this requirement is met.

If your student has already received the booster shot, please send a copy of the shot record to the school office as soon as possible (before summer break) to avoid delay on the first day of school.

We need a copy of the booster shot record from all incoming 7th grade students. If your student has not had a booster shot yet, please schedule an appointment immediately with your doctor. Vaccines may also be available at San Joaquin Community Hospital, Children's Mobile Immunization Program 661-869-6740, the Kern County Health Department 661-321-3000 and many of the Pharmacies also give immunizations.

If you have questions or concerns, please call the School Nurse or Health Technician at 661-831-3503.

Thank you,
Jaki Haughton, RN - District School Nurse
Mr. McGrath, School Principal
